Information About Lucy - Leeds tutor
This is how 2 referees rated Lucy:
Hello, I am a PhD student in the second year of my doctoral study in the School of English at the University of Leeds. I am educated to Masters level in English Literature and am passionate about enabling students of all ages and backgrounds engage with literature and achieve their full potential.
While this will be my first formal experience of tutoring I have worked informally with students from a variety of backgrounds in the past. I undertook several placements in secondary schools and sixth forms where I provided support for English Literature and Language students approaching GCSE and A-Level exams. I have also provided one to one support with research skills and academic writing style to a post-graduate student and continue to offer tuition in academic writing to a degree student with English as a second language. I will be taking up a position as a Teaching Assistant within my faculty this academic year.
My approach to tutoring is a creative and responsive one based around working with each tutee to identify their personal goals and preferred learning style. I aim to create a safe and relaxed environment in which students can work at their own pace in sessions that are challenging and enjoyable. I can offer support with school work, preparation for examinations, including GCSEs and AS/A Levels and general literacy skills including helping to develop confidence in reading and writing.
