I am a mother of two young daughters and I am expecting my third daughter this September. I am Head of English at a large and successful local secondary school. I would be more than happy to take on some tutees at this time.
I have held QTS for 10 years, attaining my PGCE in Secondary English from UEA in 2008. I have been teaching full-time since qualifying.
I teach the full secondary range, 11-18, including exam classes at GCSE and A-level. At present, I teach EdExcel GCSE English Language; AQA GCSE English Literature; and OCR A-level English Literature. However, my experience enables me to work with any English syllabi. I am familiar with a number of set texts at both GCSE and A-level.
As well as being experienced, I am a very successful teacher: my teaching has been judged as 'outstanding' both internally and by Ofsted.
For the past 3 years, I have been in the post of Head of English, making me accountable for my school's English results, which have been very good under my leadership. My role requires me to be completely conversant with government requirements in the teaching of English at secondary level.
I assess what my students can do and then endeavour to assist them in addressing their weaknesses in order for them to make progress. I am patient, calm and very approachable.
