I have recently left full time teaching to focus on tutoring and writing. I enjoy travelling, walking our two dogs, sewing, keeping fit and cooking.I have lived in France and Egypt.
I have over 20 years experience teaching French and leading the French Department at a local school, teaching French to A Level. I also taught English and Arabic with the British Council in Cairo for several years. I taught Arabic to non-native speakers at an international school in Cairo. I have tutored many adults and young learners privately in French, Arabic and EFL.
I will adapt my teaching to individual learning styles, taking a communicative approach. A typical lesson will include listening, reading, speaking, writing but a client's needs will dictate emphasis on particular skills. I endeavour to make lessons exciting and varied, using different resources, including video and online support. I have very recent experience of teaching the new GCSE and A level French curriculum and have a good record of bringing out the best in students, who often achieve grades well beyond those predicted.
