Louise

Hello - i'm Louise, an experienced primary school teacher and accredited teacher for SpLD Dyslexia. I'm passionate about supporting all learners in overcoming barriers to achieving their individual potential. I believe a particular strength to be my ability to develop learners self-esteem and ensuring learning that takes account of each child's strengths and interests.

Outside of education, I am a mother myself to two young boys, with whom I enjoy being active and planning adventures from long walks to exploring castles.

Tutoring Experience

I hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), the National Award for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordination (NASENDCo) and am a qualified Specialist Teacher and Assessor for SpLD (Dyslexia) holding AMBDA status with the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA). I have over 17 years of experience of supporting learners across the primary age range both in educational settings and home tuition, which has included working collaboratively with other educational settings and outside agencies (such as Speech and Language Therapy and Educational Psychology), to deliver bespoke learning programmes catered to individual need.

Tutoring Approach

Key to my tutoring approach is establishing positive relationships with both the children and families I will be working with, as I believe a child centered approach is key to successful tuition.

Tutoring work will initially involve informal assessment which may involve discussions with the learner and their parents, a review of any reports from school or other outside agencies and individual assessments of learning skills and knowledge. This information will be collated into an Individual Learner Profile which will inform a bespoke learning programme for your child. This programme will then be shared with the child and their parents, delivered by myself and regularly reviewed.

Sessions are usually around one hour long (dependent on the child) and will include discussion time with families including an update on progress made in each session.
