I lived in the Netherlands for 3 years and acquired the state diploma for fluency as well as the CELTA certificate which enabled me to teach English at a language school in Amsterdam. This, in turn, led to me moving back to the UK in order to study to become a primary school teacher.

I enjoy writing and am currently completing a diploma in journalism. I sometimes write features as a freelancer. Art and photography are also two of my many interests as well as languages and traveling.

Tutoring Experience

I have been working as a primary school class teacher since 2003 in London and have experience across all year groups in KS1 and KS2. I have also specialized as a music teacher and am currently teaching French and music as well as giving SATS practice at a primary school in Hounslow. As a child, I went to a grammar school and understand how stressful it can be for children taking the 11+. I offer tuition to children needing practice with 11+ tests and help with staying calm under pressure.

I have a BA (Hons) degree in French and Fine Art and a diploma in music from Goldsmiths. I also taught English to adults in Amsterdam for 2 years and part time in London. I have worked as a booster teacher where I helped children to improve their levels in maths and English, particularly boosting the higher ability in these subjects.

I teach piano to beginners at home and am interested in combining this with French.

Tutoring Approach

It's important to understand the individual child and how they learn the best, particularly using different approaches to get the learning point across. I always break down any difficult concepts into simple and manageable chunks for the child to understand and make learning fun and interesting so there is an intrinsic motivation to make progress.

Costs are £30 per hour.

To finish, it's really important for me to inspire children and make them feel as though they can achieve anything they want to... because they can!

I also offer 30 minute lessons for £15.
