Oxford Masters Graduate in Economics With Teaching Experience (DBS Checked)
I graduated from the University of Oxford after completing an MSc in Economics for Development. Prior to this I was awarded a first class BSc in Economics from SOAS, University of London. I often obtained the highest marks in my class and was awarded the HSBC scholarship, given to students with notable academic potential.
I am able to teach all ages in Economics or Mathematics and I can assist with essay or personal statement proofreading.
I prepared the content and taught a two week Economics course to students on the Oxbridge International Summer School. The students were aged between 15-18 and were potential Oxbridge candidates that had gained a place on the course through an application and interview process.
I have also worked as an English camp counsellor at a summer camp in the Austrian Alps. I taught daily three hour English classes and was responsible for the safety and wellbeing of over sixty children.
I have a calm and engaging teaching style where I aim to increase the student’s interest and confidence in the subject by asking them to think critically and relating complex problems to real world examples (increasing the students chances to remember the content).
“Louise was well prepared – the structure of the course was clear, and she consistently asked questions to keep her class engaged and to make sure that they were following. Louise knew her subject well. She used visual aids frequently, and described complex ideas in a simple way, often asking students for further detail and clarification of what she had drawn. The class as a whole was very interactive and required contribution from all students. Louise had a calm and measured teaching style, and made for a very effective and engaging Economics tutor.
Overall, students were delighted with the course, stating that the topics covered increased their interest in the subject. They particularly enjoyed the interactive aspects of the course; drawing graphs on the board, debating, giving presentations etc. One student commented that they found the course interesting and rewarding, and that they look forward to pursing the subject at University level.”
