I am a local (Brentwood) recently retired secondary school teacher with 14 years experience in teaching chemistry for IB, A level and GCSE.
As the mother of two adult children whom I saw through their sixth form education, I understand a parent's perspective.
I am available to travel to Brentwood, Shenfield and its surrounding villages.
My teaching experience includes:
- Biology, chemistry and physics to lower school (years 7-9)
- GCSE chemistry
- A level chemistry
- IB chemistry standard and higher
I start by discussing with the student and their parent the areas they are comfortable with but also those topics which they find more challenging. From here we can together build an appropriate programme of study which addresses their individual needs. I also focus on exam technique and exam paper questions to ensure they are prepared for any upcoming exams and have the confidence to apply their knowledge.
I like to make my tutoring sessions interactive so rather than simply instructing I tailor the sessions depending on the student's learning style. For example, I will include visual exercises, videos or examples from real life depending on the individual's preferences.
