I am an experienced and professional tutor offering A level Chemistry
Lessons offer revision of your exam board specification with the emphasis on practicing examination style questions.
I completed a DPhil. in Biochemistry at the University of Oxford and also hold a BSC Double Honours degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry.
Following graduation I spent more than a decade in the chemical industry initially in biomedical research and then in a commercial role. During my doctoral studies at Oxford University I gained my first experience of tutoring chemistry to small groups of first year undergraduate students which I greatly enjoyed.
For the last five years, following a career break to start my own family, I have been tutoring locally and have a large number of successful students. I have experience of AQA, OCR and Edexcel Chemistry A level.
I also offer tuition in AQA GCSE double and triple science.
I am happy to put you in touch with ex-students and/or their parents, some of whom have left references.
I see my primary role as a tutor to help individual students succeed and attain their best possible exam results. This is achieved by increasing subject knowledge, capacity to apply learning to exam questions and thereby developing confidence.
Lesson plans and teaching style are tailored to suit the needs of the individual student.
Most students benefit from a structured approach in which revision is planned and covers all the material in their exam board specification. Other students may have specific needs in a particular area. With all clients priorities are agreed according in individual strengths and weaknesses along with time constraints. I am well-resourced to provide learning exercises and offer lots of examination style question practice. Work is marked, assessed and discussed with the student so that examination performance can be increased.
Most tuition takes place on regular a weekly basis in one hour sessions although longer lessons can be organised if needed. I also am happy to see students on an occasional basis to cover specific learning requirements.
On a personal note, I am really enjoying tutoring and view myself as fortunate to do a job that I look forward to! It is great to work with pupils and focus on areas in a way that there is no time for in school. Many former students have seen significant grade improvements.
