I am an experienced and passionate player and teacher currently in my final year at the Royal Welsh College Of Music & Drama, studying for a degree in jazz (my principal study is drum kit).
I acquired my first drum student when I was 14 years old. In the seven or eight years of teaching since then, I developed what I believe is a consistent and concise method for teaching music. I have lead workshops in primary and secondary schools, and engaged in modules at RWCMD in outreach studies for the last two years. I have spent a lot of time developing personally as a musician and am very dedicated to understanding the way we learn.
Drum kit and various percussion. Specialising in jazz/improvisation and contemporary music styles. Also a strong emphasis on technique, time and acquiring a good sound and feel on the drums. I have a very open approach to teaching but through experience have found that some things work and some things don't, leading me to have developed a strong method and order in my lessons that is based on the great lessons that I have had over the years. This is great for beginners but when it comes to teaching more experienced students I may give more control of lesson content to them, depending on what they feel they would like to learn. I have a lot of experience with beginners in particular and if you consider yourself a little more advanced, I am confident that I can push your playing to the next level, prepare you for conservetoire auditions, or guide you through any issue you have in your playing at the moment.
