Personal Description:

I am Liza, 28 years old, originally from the Netherlands where I studied and worked as a child psychologist. I have worked a lot with children diagnosed with AD(H)D, but also with other problems, and love working with both young and older children (including grown up children!). I have also teached 'developmental psychology' to University students and worked as a mindfulness trainer, both with children and adults. Currently I am studying to become a Tai Chi teacher, so my interest lies a lot in personal development. I am a patient and caring person, easy to be around, and I believe I can be of an amazing help to people of all ages to help them finding back their motivation and passion in learning. I also play the piano since a very young age and have reached a point now where I can play naturally by improvising. I would also love to teach other people to play the piano.

Tutoring Experience:

I have worked individually with children with special needs in my work as a child psychologist, and before that also in a school for children with special needs in the Netherlands. I have teached groups of University students in the subject of Developmental psychology and I have worked a lot with groups of adults and teenagers in giving them mindfulness training (stress reduction training). I have experience in teaching piano to beginners.

Tutoring Approach:

Listening comes before doing; tuning into where the child or adult is in it's development and build from there by taking small steps, appreciating and believing in the individual qualities of every person. You will hear me saying regularly 'well done!' and finding creative ways to keep someone's attention and make learning a pleasurable, fun experience.
