English (Foreign Language)
My undergraduate degree is in Linguistics, and as such I have a passion for languages. The degree has provided me with a sound understanding of the English grammar, a strong knowledge of English vocabulary and an understanding of the mechanics behind language learning. I feel that this gives me the ability and grounding to assist children who are having problems dealing with and identifying issues with English grammar. Additionally, I have most recently gained a TEFL qualification and wish to being teaching English as a foreign language to people living in London. Whether this be teaching and aiding the ability of students to understand the structure of the language, or assist in conversational and fluency of the language, i have the skills background and knowledge to help you. On top of this i have the passion to help you succeed and experience in a lively learning environment.
For the last 3 years i have worked in the City in Human Resource Management.
I have experience of teaching children the piano, and both children and non-native English speakers English grammar. In addition to this, my role in HR has exposed me to Training and Development within the workplace, including developing and running courses for the business. The syle and interaction involved in training such as this, is very similar to the ethos begind TEFL and also my own belief that learning should be an interactive and not a dictatorial activity.
My main aim is ensure that my students enjoy learning English. I want them to gain confidence in their use of the language and expand their knowledge of vocabulary to assist them in any situation that they may find themselves in. Whether i am teaching children or adults the name of the game is to have fun and enjoy the learning, as this is proven to give a better transfer of information to memory.
