I grew up in Singapore and returned to England to take my A-Levels. I moved to London and worked for five years after A-levels, and then attended the University of Greenwich in 2003. I graduated with a first class BA(Hons) English with Drama degree and have been teaching ever since.
I specialise in GCSE and A-Level English Literature, although I've taught across a wide range of ages and abilities, from primary school to university students. I also have classroom experience as a TEFL teacher. I'm happy to take on any challenge!
I have often been asked to teach exam technique, and the students have had very good results from my approach.
My approach depends on the individual.
I find it helpful if the student can supply me with examples of their work before the first session. The first session is often an exploration of their approach to their work, so that I can identify areas that need special attention.
I will occasionally give the student work to do on their own time if I feel that is needed, and won't cause undue pressure.
