I am a graduate from the University of Cambridge, having gained a first class degree in Education and English. I have recently finished training at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts where I studied acting. I have a range of experience in teaching and, having studied Education, I work hard to meet the student's individual needs so that they can reach high academic results, have confidence in their own learning and enjoy the satisfaction of improving in their work. My training in acting means that I can also pay particular attention to my pupils' communication and help them to improve this both in their writing and speaking.
I was Education Officer for a tour in Japan of the Shakespeare play 'A Comedy of Errors' and I led workshops, school lessons and university lectures on Shakespeare and the English language more generally.
I spent 4 weeks teaching English as a foreign language to two primary aged students in Spain. I have also worked as an English and Spanish Teaching Assistant in a primary school.
I have taught drama to secondary school students in an extra curricular club which I set up before University.
I tailor my lessons to the specific needs of the tutee but I prioritise raising the student's confidence through discussion and improving their understanding in specific areas of difficulty. As exams approach I will focus on exam technique, ensuring that good analytical skills are being developed in essay writing. I am a patient teacher and aware that every student will respond in a different way; therefore, I am flexible and relaxed as I work with the tutee to maximise their potential.
