Following a long successful teaching career I have recently retired but wish to continue contributing to students’ success. This has allowed me the time to mark for exam boards which gives me very useful insight into how best to prepare students for exams.
I studied Biology at Exeter University, worked briefly in Reading University’s Zoology Department, and then moved to Africa to start my teaching career. After returning I worked in schools and a sixth form college before moving to a leading further education college in the north-west.
I may be able to travel short distances from Nantwich or preferably you can come to my houses. I have an up to date DBS certificate.
I have taught A level Biology for over 26 years, GCSE Biology for over 10 years, GCSE Science, GCSE Physics along with a range of vocational Science courses at levels 2 & 3 and Access courses for mature students. For many of these years I have acted as a Personal Tutor and Course Team Leader, helping students to review their progress, identify problems and improve their achievement.
The approach to sessions needs to depend largely on what the student wants. If you are unclear I will discuss the course specification with you and ask some gently probing questions to target areas for development. Once topics have been identified I will make extensive use of exam questions and a range of other resources to build a deeper understanding.
