Personal Description:

Graduate from the University of Aberdeen with two Master's degrees in Chemical and Subsea Engineering with a wealth of experience in tutoring to various age groups and at various academic stages.

I am reliable, trustworthy, conscientious and dedicated to helping others achieve their very best through patience and good planning.

I am available weekdays (including evenings), weekends and during the school holidays however I am being booked up fast so if you're interested then do let me know!

Tutoring Experience:

I have a diverse range of experience in a tutoring environment, which varies from helping adult learners who are returning to a subject for the first time since leaving school to students who need a little extra support and practice for exams just around the corner.

I have also been employed at the University of Aberdeen as an Academic Demonstrator for a second year engineering course where I planned, organised and held tutorials and laboratory classes.

I have seen first hand the anxiety and lack of confidence surrounding mathematics (in particular), which has helped me to adapt my tutoring style and develop innovative ways to explain more complex topics.

I also have a PVG (Disclosure Scotland) certificate.

Tutoring Approach:

Catering to individual needs whilst remaining patient, empathetic and composed is my personal approach to tutoring. I believe that motivation and tackling problem areas or knowledge gaps is key to improve understanding and gain confidence in each individual.

I believe good communication is essential to effective tutoring to build trust and a strong working rapport. Therefore, my first meeting is always used with the aim of putting the tutee at ease, learning a little about themselves (identifying strengths / aspirations / weaknesses / problem areas etc.) and coming up with a plan of action. However a more casual approach can also be taken - which is up to the learners / parents. Ultimately I want you to set expectations for what you hope to get out of our meetings so I can do my part in getting you there.

I am a firm believer that with a willingness to learn and a little guidance, you can achieve your goals. As such, I endeavour to make the learning process as pleasant and stress free as possible.

I am always available by email / telephone should you want to discuss a meeting or your progress.
