I am a mother of two young boys living in Winchester. Before having my children I lived in London for ten years, where I worked mainly in training and development, mostly delivering and managing training. After having my first child I re-trained as a secondary school teacher, and am qualified to teach French and Spanish, the former to A-level standard and the latter to younger secondary students.
I am a qualified secondary modern languages teacher, receiving my qualification in June 2010. During my training I taught in two mixed schools in the Bromley area. After qualifying as a teacher I taught French for six months in an academy in Kent.
I approach tutoring on a very personal level and seek to understand the student's concerns right at the start. I am aware that everyone has their strengths and areas they need to improve, and that improving modern language skills is very much about confidence, particularly with speaking. It is vital to work with the student's school's materials but also to use other materials and contexts in order to broaden knowledge and understanding; this means that the student is as flexible and rounded in their use of the target language as possible.
