I am an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor, who employs a variety of activities and techniques to ensure the learner is engaged. I understand that every student learns differently and take that into account when undertaking tutoring. I support my tutoring by providing a range of creative resources. Most importantly, I relish the opportunity to work with young people, supporting them to realise their ambitions and achieve at all secondary levels and A-levels of English. Outside teaching I am a keen musician and enjoy anything that involves the Devonshire seaside!
I am an experienced teacher having taught for four years. In my four years of teaching, I have consistently been graded as an outstanding teacher and offered my creativity to other colleagues, working in varying roles of respinsibility.
Over the five years, I have taught GCSE English language and literature and boast excellent results. I am fortunate to have had experience with both high achieving sets, and students who need extra help to fulfil their potential and achieve good results at GCSE.
I love teaching, and am passionate about my subject. I hold an MA in English, and am constantly reading to ensure that my subject knowledge is excellent. Throughout the four years, I have taught a wide range of texts and I always ensure that I creatively approach the text to engage all learners.
I am also fortunate enough to have taught A-level English literature for the past four years, and have a track record of achieving excellent results. I really enjoy exploring challenging texts with students and assisting them with meeting the demands of A-level study.
I have an uptodate DBS check, and can provide a CV and excellent references. I enjoy all aspects of teaching English.
I am aware that tutoring is very pupil centred. With this in mind, I make sure that I establish a dialogue, before tutoring with both the student and parents. This enables me to plan appropriately and effectively, with the students needs and requests in mind.
I am aware that all students learn differently and adapt my tutoring to enable students to learn effectively. This may involve using media, or games to support the learning. I am, however, aware that exam students need support with responding to an array of questions on exam papers, and I am fully verse with a range of exam specifications.
I enjoy sourcing creative and differentiated resources for my tutees, and ensure that all students are given a progress sheet, in which myself, parents and students can track progress.
I relish the opportunity to support students in a 1-1 setting, which enables them to make progress quickly and effectively.
