I am 28 years old, and currently finishing off a BSc in Zoo Biology. I have a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, where I have worked in various different childcare capacities, including a nanny and science club instructor from the ages of 3 months- 13 years.
I am patient and friendly, and have my own car, so I would be able to travel to and from your house.
For the past few years I have worked as a science club leader, teaching groups of up to 25 children about science. As part of my CACHE Level 3 Diploma, I worked at a number of school placements and am confident planning and carrying out activities using the relevant curriculums, taking into account age and stage.
As a nanny, I help children with their homework, reading and spellings.
I worked voluntarily for a few years helping to teach dancing to children from the ages of 4-11 years old.
There are a number of ways to tutor children, but I believe that the best way to learn and do something, is by actively doing something and turning it into something fun and memorable that they can relate to. This will help to inspire confidence: half of the battle is getting a child to believe that they xan do it, no matter how difficult the subject at hand!
For example, with tutoring a Primary child maths and a money subject, I would turn the activity into a fun activity using props of coins and objects that they could buy from the shop, and the change they might receive.
It is always best to stay patient with children if they are finding a subject tricky, and if it were me, I would approach the subject from a different angle and by using little rhymes and reminder key words to help with a subject.
