Maths and English Lessons in Muswell Hill

I am a qualified Primary School teacher with a wealth of experience working in KS1 and KS2.

I have a degree in Sociology and Social Policy (BA Hons) from Bournemouth University in which I obtained a 2:1.

I went on to complete a PGCE at St Mary's University Twickenham and achieved the grading 'Outstanding'.

I have been commended on my excellent approach to teaching and how quickly I am able to build a rapport with children. I am bubbly and enthusiastic and this comes through in my passion for teaching. I believe that every child can achieve and sometimes 1-to-1 support is what a child needs to thrive. I aim to create confident learners that are resilient in the face of challenge.

I am only available for weekday tutoring during the school holidays.

Tutoring Experience

I am qualified primary school teacher with the grading 'outstanding'. Prior to obtaining my PGCE I volunteered and worked as a teaching assistant in schools across the country. The years I have spent working have been with a range of year groups from 4-11 years. As a qualified teacher I was in year 2, so I am very familiar about KS1 SATs and the expectations attached. I have an excellent understanding of synthetic phonics and early reading and writing, as well as KS2 Grammar. I have tutored KS1 and KS2 children successfully, as I have an excellent understanding of the maths and English curriculum.

Tutoring Approach

I approach learning with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. If the children can't have fun then they won't engage with the work they are doing. I like to play games, present fun activities and do a lot of talk for learning. I have several work books and give the children their own exercise books to complete their work in to make it feel like their work is really special, I allow the children to keep these at home. I tailor sessions to specific children's needs and have a range of strategies to build confidence and work hard to solve problems as a collaborative team. I enjoy intellectually challenging children and using every day experience to teach tricky/ conceptual concepts.

I am offering tutoring in Sociology for A-Level students. I have a degree in Sociology and Social Policy achieving 2:1. I covered several topics within this including politics, crime and disability modules. My approach is strategic and will cover all the topics needed to help pass the Sociology A-Level tests. I also provide essay writing and referencing skills to ensure success.
