I have a BA Honours degree in English Studies - this covered English Literature, Language and Media. My PGCE is in Secondary English; I have been teaching for 7 years now and have taught a range of ages, abilities and covered English literature, language and media.
I am also currently undertaking a Masters degree in Education at Cardiff Metropolitan University.
I am currently teaching English at a high achieving school that boasts extremely good pass rates across the school. At GCSE I teach the WJEC English Literature and Language courses and have experience delivering a wide range of texts. I have currently updated and created new schemes of work that prepares GCSE pupils for the new specification examination papers. At A level, I teach English Literature as well as the WJEC English Literature and Language course.
I have been tutoring for 4 years and have seen pupils achieve a grade or two above their predicted grades. I have worked with tuttees aiming for A*s and very closely with many C/D borderline tuttees that have simply needed some additional support to push them over the line into that higher grade.
I also have 4 years experience marking for an exam board so am very familiar with the assessment criteria and can offer feedback from this viewpoint also.
I am a friendly, bubbly person who is determined and keen to get you the grades you deserve. I am happy to provide work and resources that give additional support to work being undertaken at school; I am happy to look over and edit coursework and make helpful suggestions or assist with homework from school. I feel support pitched at the right level can help turn weaknesses into strengths, as well as providing confidence whilst studying English at school.
