Personal Description:

I graduated with a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from Imperial College London, and have continued to do a PhD there. I did my A-levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and French at the French Lycée in London. I speak English and French fluently, and am happy to teach in either language.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Imperial College. I help younger students with their problem-solving exercises. This consists in guiding them through the exercises, but also in helping them develop the methods to tackle problems.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor, I seek to help students prepare effectively for their exams and University applications.I believe that half of the work is down to knowing the material, and the other half is down to organisation.

As each student is unique, my approach to tutoring varies. The first step to helping the student, is to determine what kind of help is needed.

Some students struggle with the material and need someone to take them through it step by step. In this case, I can help students understand the concepts and explain to them how to tackle exercises, starting with easy questions and moving towards exam style questions.

Other students don't struggle with the material but need a guiding hand to tell them how they can improve, want to move along more quickly, or simply bring a little reassurance. In this case, I work with the student to find the weak links in their understanding and help them bridge the gaps in their knowledge.

Some students find that the process of applying to schools is a big step: what do I choose? where do I start? how do i write my personal statement? In this last case, I can help by providing guidance on the process of applying to schools in the UK, helping with the personal statement and essays, and preparation for interviews.
