Personal Description:

I graduated from Oxford University in 2012 with a 2:1 in English Language and Literature. I also have a Grade A in History, English and Geography A Levels and a Grade B Spanish A Level, including full marks for English A2 and full marks for Geography AS. In my GCSEs I achieved 9 A*'s and 2 As. I currently work in communications as a civil servant.

I enjoy working with young people and would like to help others achieve academic success. Having had excellent tutors myself, both at school and university, I want to make an equally positive impact on my tutees.

My areas of expertise are
- English Literature
-Oxbridge applications
-ELAT
- Interview prep
-Personal statement prep

I am looking to tutor in London, Zones 1 and 2

Tutoring Experience:

I have gained valuable experience with young people as a Student Counsellor for two summers at the prestigious Oxford Royale Academy Summer School. I was responsible for the activities and pastoral care of the students.

I taught English as a Foreign Language in China for two months in the summer of 2012 on the Oxford Cambridge Student Education Program. I created my own teaching materials and lesson plans, marked work, and encouraged and assisted pupils in classes of up to 30 students.

I have one-to-one tutoring experience with GCSE, University level, A-Level and the 11 plus exam. I also have experience conducting Oxbridge Mock-Interviews.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that building the student's confidence is one of the most vital aspects of tutoring, in order to encourage them to achieve their full potential and to have the self-belief and motivation to achieve good results. I am friendly and approachable and so welcome honest interaction with the student to clarify what they do and don't understand in order to progress and advance. Whilst studying at Oxford University I had private tutorials at least once a week and therefore I am used to explaining myself clearly and discussing academic work in a direct and intimate environment. From experience I know how to structure and tailor work to the mark scheme and to perfect exam technique to achieve the highest results. I achieved full marks in my own English A level which is a testament to this skill. I am able to break down content into manageable chunks and significantly improve the quality and sophistication of my students' work.
