I am a second year undergraduate at the University of Warwick studying French and History. I achieved A*A*A in my A2 Levels of Maths, History, and French, and gained 11 A*s at GCSE; including English Language, English Literature, Maths, Core Science and Additional Science. Having spent 6 weeks working in France this summer on top of my studies, my French is very advanced and I feel comfortable in tutoring the language. As a linguist, I am well qualified to tutor English for primary and high school students, and my Maths A Level and interest in a career in finance means that I feel comfortable tutoring students in Maths up until GCSE.
I was part of a programme aimed at helping struggling students while I was in school; reading with younger students and helping them with any homework problems that they had. I have also given violin lessons, and while not academic tutoring, this gave me experience in one-on-one teaching and effectively managing time during a lesson to cover what needs to be covered.
My teaching approach would be fairly traditional; working through examples and explaining points of any topics that the student is taking issue with, before setting them questions to check their understanding. However, my approach would vary if I felt that a particular student would benefit more from an interactive style of learning, such as the use of games/flash cards/props.
