Recent graduate in Classical Studies from King's College London. My degree has included advanced study of Ancient Greek, Latin and Ancient History. I have specialised in Roman History, specifically the study of Roman slavery at the end of the Republican period.
Before attending university I worked as a teaching assistant at a private school and nursery in Hampstead, working with children aged 3-7 years.
I attended University College School where I obtained grades AAA in History (Medieval), Politics and Philosophy. I attended Haberdashers' Aske's School For Girls where I obtained 5A* and 5A grades at GCSE.
I have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant at the Phoenix Primary School and nursery, working with children aged 3-7 years old and helping them develop their literacy skills and verbal reasoning.
In a mentoring role at University I helped develop and continue a program of exam and essay workshops for the first and second year students.
I aim to build enthusiasm in the subject areas, whilst simultaneously developing their critical and analytical skills, which will benefit them not only in the specific subject area, but will help them improve across the board. Through personalised lessons I can take the time to develop the student's individual needs through interactive and informal teaching to make the learning process an enjoyable experience. I aim to discover where any misunderstandings or misconceptions are in their subject area so that together we can unpick these and progress.
I will spend some lessons going over their weakest areas by going through their school work and through some self-prepared exercises. This will build their understand and consolidate the material.
During the lead up to the exam period I will help familiarise them with the exam by using past exam papers, to develop both confidence and their exam technique. Success in exams is achieved by a string understanding of the subject area and a strong understand of what is being tested. I will the student understand exactly what is being looked for on the exam paper and how to jump through the necessary hoops associated with modern exam testing, so that they can achieve the best possible grades.
I hope to impart clarity of understanding and joy of learning with my students.
