My name is Krishnan and I am going to be studying for a Masters in Physics with Theoretical Physics this year at the University of Nottingham. I have always been captivated by maths and science because I enjoy the feeling associated with being able to solve complex problems with just a few logical observations. Having finished GCSE and A-level maths a year early, I have gained a thorough, comprehensive knowledge of the main areas of mathematics including the further mathematics modules i.e algebra, geometry, calculus, mechanics and statistics. I am also an Arkwright Engineering Fellow, having passed a rigorous selection process that involved solving several practical engineering problems that tested my ability to combine my knowledge of Physics and Maths to everyday scenarios. I look forward to being able to tutor Maths and Science whilst nurturing efficient problem solving techniques and helping my tutees achieve beyond their expectations for the subject!
I have taught several of my peers at my Sixth Form College for A-level Biology (OCR) , Chemistry (AQA), Physics (AQA), Maths and Further Maths.
I am a strong believer that the best way to learn any scientific subject is to focus on understanding the various concepts and principles rather than learning to remember a series of steps. This is because, by understanding concepts it broadens the students scope to be able to solve unknown problems and even tackle tricky application-style questions. If you understand a formula- you never have to remember it. I will work with the student to swiftly identify any gaps in their knowledge and help rebuild a more concrete intuition about the underlying maths/ science involved. By asking the student streamlined questions, they will leave the session with a deeper awareness of the key concepts. A large portion of my teaching method will also be on working through problems/ exam style questions that cater to any weak areas with the tutee.
