Personal Description:

I am currently reading for a Masters degree in Reaserch into Gas Turbine Aerodynamics (MRes) and will graduate in September from the course. The year is part of a 1+3 years scheme where come September I will continue full time studying for my PhD. For my undergraduate study I read for a Masters degree in Engineering Science (MEng) at the University of Oxford. I have been tutoring students, from a wide range of backgrounds and varying abilities, since 2008 .

I am extremely passionate about what I do and students can be confident lessons will be enjoyable but also intense at times as I like to push students to their full potential. There is nothing more enjoyable than seeing a student develop in a particular subject, especially when they had little confidence in themselves and didn't believe they could achieve so much in such a short space of time.

I am happy to disclose my degree classification, A-Level and GCSE results/ qualifications if you are interested.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been tutoring for around 8 years to students who are in KS1 right up to students who are taking their A-levels. Over the past 6 months I have worked with students applying for scientific undergraduate degrees, preparing them for technical interviews and running a mock interview process.

Tutoring Approach:

I like to cover the material in a subject in a similar structure and order to how it is presented at school. I tend to cover topics slightly ahead of when they are presented at school so the student can see the material taught in two different ways and spend more tme in the subject. As the exam period begins I run revision lessons where I re-visit tricky material and explore different revision styles so to find a technique that works best for the individual. From my own experiances I've found a number of really good ways to remember what you need in the exam hall.

I like to encourage students by tackling more abstract problems and devising problems that stimulate understand rather that rote learning a series of facts. By really understanding the fundamentals of each topic, not only is each problem then just a variation on a theme, but I find students find confidence in tackling the most demanding of problems.
