I am a PhD Drama student studying at the University of Exeter and have recently completed a Masters in Drama Research. In addition to that of my teaching experience, I have also for the last ten years explored drama from multiple perspectives as an actor, writer, director, designer and graduated top of my year from Aberystwyth University. Consequently this has meant that I have a firm knowledge of the potential opportunities that drama can offer both inside and outside the classroom.
2009 Current Teaching Assistant at the University of Exeter Drama Department
Teaching on a module that offers students a broad understanding of 20th Century Practitioners, their style and the context in which they worked in.
2008-2009 Postgraduate Mentor
Advised undergraduates on careers in drama after university.
2008 Drama tutor
Lessons ranged to practical acting techniques, drama school auditions, textual analysis and essay writing.
2007-2008 - Activities Manager, Teaching Drama to Children aged 9-22
In charge of activities of a Summer School for foreign students, directing shows and running workshops.
My approach to tutoring depends solely on the needs of the student, but I offer the following:
Actor training - i.e. monologues for auditions, G.C.S.E/AS/A-Level/BA exams.
Essay work - i.e. text and performance analysis, exam preparation, etc
Careers Advice - How to find work as an actor, higher education?
Some students may require exercises based on what is outlined in their syllabus, others may just need help in getting into drama school/university.
