An enthusiastic, passionate and committed singing teacher, recently graduated from studying BA Hons Music at The University of York, and experienced in teaching a variety of styles ranging from classical to contemporary popular, jazz and musical theatre.
I am happy to assist pupils of all ages and abilities; whether you have never had any formal lessons before and just want to gain confidence in singing and learn a new skill, or whether you have been training your voice for years and would like to focus on very specific aspects such as technique, performance skills or expanding your repertoire.
Mid-Ulster School of Music 2010-2012 (Vocal and Piano Teacher)
-Taught a wide range of ages from pre-school to pupils in their mid-fifties, and of all abilities (some of my pupils had mild learning disabilities or a physical disability) and therefore have developed a lot of experience in tailoring my lessons to suit the pupil's strengths and capabilities to allow them to progress in the best way possible.
-Gained a 100% pass rate from all my pupils entered into exams.
-Taught individual and small group lessons, but also worked as part of a bigger team of teachers preparing pupils for their end of year showcases in The Burnavon Theatre, Cookstown.
-Helped direct a showcase which was performed for West End and Broadway performer Kerry Ellis, from the hit musical Wicked.
-Directed rehearsals for the Mid-Ulster School of Music choir performances and smaller vocal ensembles also.
-Encouraged and witnessed pupils of all ages grow in confidence and develop their skills.
During lessons you should expect to cover these areas:
-Learning about vocal technique: breathing and supporting your voice correctly, producing your voice in a healthy manner, articulation, developing your tone, learning effective scales and warm-ups for the voice, improving voice's agility.
-Performance skills: How to express the music you are singing effectively using facial expressions and gestures (depending on what style of music you are covering) and how to interpret what you are singing and express this to an audience.
-Building confidence in yourself and your singing and performing ability
-Expanding your repertoire
I am happy to help with:
-Developing your singing in songs you have always wanted to perform
-Helping you choose songs which will suit and compliment your voice type
-Helping you put together programmes for recitals, GCSE/A Level performances, festivals etc.
-Helping you work on audition technique
-Taking you through your graded exams
-Group coaching or workshops
