Personal Description:

My name is Kimberley, originally from Lancashire, I have lived in Manchester for the last five years and love being part of such a vibrant and diverse community. After my A-levels I moved to Scotland and spent four years studying History at the University of St. Andrews before moving to Surrey to pursue an interest in the charity sector. History, culture and the arts are still a really important part of my life; a keen national trust member I enjoy being out and about and spend a lot of time at the theatre where I have recently started to pursue an interest in writing for the stage.

Tutoring Experience:

A qualified English teacher, I completed the Teach First Leadership Development Programme in 2014. Qualifying with distinction, I have experience of working with students aged 11-16 within a high school environment and am able to differentiate and adapt sessions to suit students with a range of abilities or additional needs (inc. SEN and those who speak English as an additional language).

I am now working as a Health Improvement Practitioner, working with pupils, parents and teachers on mental health and resilience. As part of this role I work across primary, secondary and SEN education delivering workshops, training sessions, assemblies and mentoring programmes within schools across Manchester.

Tutoring Approach:

As a tutor I believe that students need to have the basics in place if they are to build on strong foundations. I believe in getting to know each student as an individual so that together we can use individual strengths to ensure progress towards their goal. As a tutor I expect to work hard for each student to ensure that they feel motivated and positive about the work they are producing but also recognise that ultimately the motivation to succeed needs to come from the individual.
