I have always loved teaching young people and sharing my enthusiasm for History and Geography.
The best moments are when I can see someone develop their own personal interest in a topic and want to take it to the next level just for the sake of wanting to learn more about it to satisfy their curiosity.
I also get great satisfaction from helping my pupils understand how to answer the exam questions so that they can access maximum marks.
I have been a teacher for 23 years in a mixed secondary school and was the Head of History and Geography.
I also mark GCSE Geography papers.
When I worked with pupils on a one to one basis during my time in the classroom, I felt it was vital to build up their confidence and prove to them how much they know and what skills they possess.
Helping pupils to understand the topics they are studying is the first step in building their confidence, then we can move on to identifying the key issues and points, and then looking at how to apply their knowledge to the questions.
I also believe in working out individual strategies for revision. Everyone has their own preferred method but this can be amended to enhance its performance.
