Hello, My name is Kim and I am an aspiring academic in the field of contemporary art, design and philosophy. I have a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art and have also completed an MRes (Master of Research) in performance art and theatre regarding the use of scripts, with emphasis on post-structural cultural theory. I am looking to further my knowledge after the completion of this course by undertaking a full time PhD continuing with my interest in performance.My specialised fields include; text based artwork, painting, performance art, contemporary art, semiotics, language, deconstruction and aspects of feminism.
My teaching/tutoring experience has previously involved giving a lecture to first year fine art undergraduate students on 'Art as Documentation'. I have also taken part in one to one tutorials with art students about their work in both a practical and theoretical sense. I take part in frequent critiques with colleagues in regards to studio practice and academic writing which involves looking at practical work and refining essays/papers.
I strongly believe in peer assisted learning and feel that every situation is a learning opportunity. I am not the type of tutor who is going to lecture at you, my approach is much more about questioning and drawing ideas out from my tutee in regards to approaching subjects from their own understanding first in order to establish realistic goals. I am an enthusiastic, passionate and approachable tutor who uses her expertise to encourage, motivate and spark determination within my tutee.
