Hello, I'm Kim. I am currently teaching at Fraserburgh Academy.
I completed my PGDE in Secondary teaching Biology with Science, at Strathclyde University (Jordanhill). I graduated from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen with a BSc (Hons) Applied Biomedical Science in July 2011. I have a great passion for Biology and teaching the Biology curriculum in school. My undergraduate degree covered subject areas from general Biology and Chemistry to Microbiology and specialised hospital sciences (i.e. Pathology and Blood Transfusion).
I have previously worked at Bannockburn High in Stirling.
I have been teaching since 2012, delivering Junior Science (Biology, Physics and Chemistry) to S3 level, National 4 and 5 Biology, old Higher, CfE Higher Biology and CfE Advanced Higher Biology.
I have a detailed knowledge of the most up to date curriculum and assessment requirements for the SQA examinations.
I have been a marker for both National 5 and Higher Assignments, and National 5 exam papers for the SQA. I have 5 years tutoring experience from National to Advanced Higher level.
I believe that a pupil must feel comfortable with the teacher, so I aim to make pupils feel at ease with me. Students don't all learn the same way, so I use a variety of approaches to subject matter, to tailor the tutoring to suit each individual. I have access to a range of resources (past papers, revision notes, standard textbooks etc.). I want pupils to be aware of their learning, so we will work together to identify areas of development and create a learning strategy that be the most beneficial.
