Personal Description:

I am a recent graduate of the University of Cambridge specialising in school/college level tutoring.

I studied at Tiffin School, the well-respected and high achieving selective grammar school in Kingston-upon-Thames. I was House Captain, Deputy Head Boy, and won first prize in school competitions for Public Speaking, Playwriting, Directing, Singing, Conducting, and many more. I also was the Local Guardian Young Journalist of the Year in 2009 and a runner up in the Citigroup Inc. Financially Speaking prize in 2008.

I achieved 9 A*s and 1 A grade at GCSE, and scored above 90% in each of my AS subjects (English, History, Music, Religion and Philosophy). At A2 I achieved 2 A*s in English and Music, and an A in history. Whilst at school I also studied at the Royal College of Music's Junior Department, where I became the first singer to ever win the Angela Bull Memorial prize for all final year students. I also was awarded the May Edwards Memorial Prize and the Concordia Prize.

I was awarded a Choral Scholarship at St John's College, Cambridge, where I studied Music. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree (2:i) and notably received a top grade (First Class) for my 10,000 word dissertation thesis on indie rock music. Whilst studying I sang with the world-famous Choir of St John's College,Cambridge, making numerous appearances on BBC television and radio. I have travelled all around the world with the choir, performing at venues which include the Royal Festival Hall (London), the Herkulesaal der Residenz (Munich), the Congertgebouw (Amsterdam) and the Suntory Hall (Tokyo).

Outside of studying and teaching, my interests include music, literature, theatre, film, art, writing, traveling, wine and cooking.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently the Senior Director of Music at Hampton Court House school, where I teach students aged 9 to 15. I have tutored privately for a while now, with pupils' ages ranging from 8 to 45.

I have a strong academic background and would be comfortable teaching most subjects up to GCSE level at least. The specialised areas I would be of particular help in include:

- Preparation for 11+ and 13+ entrance exams
- Creative Writing
- Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning
- Remedial Tuition (homework assistance, support with schoolwork)
- Essay writing skills
- Personal Statement writing
- Oxbridge application preparation
- Music theory

Tutoring Approach:

I believe that successful tutoring requires creative thought in order to motivate tutees into thinking about their work in a fresh way. As much of this work is supplementary to school/college studies, pupils often need a teacher who enables them to work in a manner which differs from their school mentality. As a young, energetic thinker with a strong academic background, I am able to engage with pupils in a productive and exiting way!
