I am a Classical & Archaeological Studies with Honours graduate from the University of Kent. I have studied Latin for 9 years, up to Advanced Latin at degree level, all fuelled from an initial love of classics and the ancient world.
I have experience in a variety of education settings, from grammar schools to museum groups to music lessons, as well as providing one-to-one mentoring and tutoring sessions with secondary school students.
Every student is individual, so my tutoring is adapted to their learning style and initial knowledge & ability. I aim to encourage and motivate the students to get the best results they can, whilst still retaining a love of the subject and nurturing a lifelong interest in the ancient world.
It is important to have a firm grasp of the numerous grammatical concepts found in Latin, but this can be done in so many different ways, through tables, pictures, stories, or simple rote learning - whichever will suit the student best.
After my sessions I provide targets to work towards, extra work that can be done at home, and ideas for books to read or topics to study in order to gain a wider knowledge of the classical civilisations.
I am happy to use any material that the student is already using or feels comfortable with, as well as providing extra material and work.
