Information About Kevan - Towcester tutor
English (Foreign Language)
Hi there! My name is Kevan and I have just recently completed my Legal Practice Course (LPC) at BPP Holborn. Prior to this, I read Law with French at Manchester Metropolitan University. I am always up for a joke but understand that learning is an important aspect of life. If learning can be fun then I encourage that! As a child, I grew up in a number of countries -France being one of them. I lived in France from the ages of 5-8 where I attended both the Lycée Internationale de Saint-Germain-en Laye as well as a local school, Louis Pasteur. I also spent my third year of my Undergraduate degree studying at the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Aix en Provence.
After finishing my Undergraduate degree I taught English abroad at Wall Street Institute for English in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. I was charged with teaching complete beginners to advanced business english levels. The classes consisted of small group sessions where we would go over some pre-assigned work as well as conversational and grammar classes.
During this year abroad I was also giving conversational classes in French in order to help improve people's understanding of how the language is spoken and understood, as well as all the differences between written and spoken French as these can vary somewhat at it's always a good thing to know what to listen out for when lost in a foreign country and listening out for directions etc!
I try to make my classes fun, current and interesting as I find that if the student is actually enjoying the class and interested in the material then they are much more likely to understand and remember what has been taught. Guidance is always a given when carrying out a class but I do tend to try and make the student think a bit and come up with answers as it pushes them. I also actively encourage students to try and make an educated guess if they can't come to a definitive solution. When a student has done well, then acknowledgement of this must occur as it encourages them to want to do more. My classes are relatively relaxed but at the end of each session, an learning outcome has been reached.
