Personal Description:

Hi, I am a semi retired 48 year old Sociology and Health and social care teacher with a real passion for all that is Sociology. I will be available day time or early evening for both A level and GCSE tuition and will also welcome pairs if this is required. I tutor in a separate detached home study room designed especially for this purpose.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been working in education for 20+years.
My most recent role before the semi retirement were Head of sociology and Health & Social care at the largest school in the country. I am proud of the fact that my 2016/17 A level Sociology results were 74%A-B and were in the top 20% of the country.
I have also been a teacher at a PRU and worked with students with a variety of special needs so have experience of how to engage disaffected learners .
I have been an examiner for AQA Sociology and Lead verifier within the school for BTEC Health and Social Care.
I have a portable DBS .

Tutoring Approach:

I am very passionate about Sociology and about ensuring all students really achieve their potential. I feel that for many students this is their chance to go out there and make their mark. They need those excellent A level results to go off to university and experience so much more . I often start right from the basics to ensure even the most confused learners understands but as my results show I am also extremely adept at ensuring students get those Cs up to Bs and those Bs up to As.
In the past I was given a Pearson Teaching award certificate and also voted funniest teacher by P16 students.
