Hi, my name is Katie and I'm currently studying Maths, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics at the University of Warwick. I am a keen academic, having achieved 10A*s in my GCSEs and 4A*s in my A-Levels, and I love the satisfaction of passing on my skills and strengths to others in order to achieve their goals. I have achieved over 98% in my GCSE and A-Level Physics, Maths and Further Maths so I have plenty of experience being successful with exams. I achieved 2nd in Northern Ireland in my GCSE Additional Maths and 2nd in Northern Ireland in A-Level Physics.
Outside of education, I am eager sportswoman and enjoy playing football, netball, tennis, golf and swimming. I am also a passionate fan of sports and an avid Manchester United fan (Liverpool fans beware!). I was awarded 'Sportsperson of the Year' at my A-Level prize giving and captained my school's senior Gaelic football team in my last year. I am good at building and maintaining relationships with others and have great communication skills, as my sports' achievements demonstrate. I have been awarded with GoldMark's 'Certificate of Excellence' for volunteering at my local football club and coaching younger players, so I have experience helping others and am passionate about doing so.
I taught myself A-Level Further Maths so I know exactly how to successfully tutor others- from both a tutor and a student perspective. I acted as a personal tutor for a Year 9 pupil who found Maths challenging. I found this experience to be rewarding and it has taught me to present and communicate Mathematical concepts in accessible language. I have experience teaching Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry at both GCSE and A Level.
Firstly, we will work together to establish your strengths and weaknesses and what methods work for you. We will go through theory and then I will provide past paper questions and examples which we will work through together. I will also set some homework and the solutions or queries can be emailed to me between sessions to maximise our productivity. In sessions we can go through questions you've found challenging until you are confident with them. At the end of a topic I will provide a 'test' so we can track your progress and as exams approach I will give you tips on success in exams and we can work through as many past papers as necessary.
