Personal Description:
I am a qualified French and Spanish secondary teacher and I am passionate about giving a quality education to my students.
I consider myself a happy and optimistic person. I am very friendly, patient and approachable and always enthusiastic about what I do. I am a reliable and organised person and love working with people of all ages. I also have excellent time management and communication skills.
My favourite hobby is dancing and I do classes in Ballet, Pointe, Tap and Modern. I have been dancing since I was 6 years old and I am really passionate about it.
I also enjoy practising my languages skills in my free time, such as reading, speaking, listening and writing in French and Spanish, practising French and Spanish grammar and vocabulary, translation and interpreting.
My other interests include exercise, going to the cinema, seeing my family and friends and listening to music.
Tutoring Experience:
Having qualified as a teacher with ‘outstanding’ in June 2013, I taught French and Spanish at Reepham High School (in Norfolk) with KS3, 4 and 5 for one year. I then went on to teach French to Years 3 to 6 at Foulsham Primary School for three months and then I worked as a Year 1 teacher at Costessey Infant School for a year. I also have vast private one-to-one tuition experience (since 2012) with both children and adults and I have an inspiring repertoire of engaging learning activities and ideas. I have found it so rewarding working with people of all ages and abilities to help them reach their full potential. Tutoring people and using my languages are both real passions for me.
Whilst doing my BA Honours French (with Spanish) degree at UEA I taught French to Year 6 classes for three months at Colman Junior School (as an instructor), including planning lessons. This was such a fantastic experience for me and I enjoyed it so much that it influenced me to become a teacher/tutor.
During my year abroad near Bordeaux in France as part of my degree, I taught English as a Language Assistant in a French secondary school for seven months. This was a very exciting and enjoyable adventure for me and I really loved planning and delivering the lessons every day.
During my degree I also worked as a Student Mentor, which involved visiting high schools in Norfolk for two hours a week to advise and provide help for young students in Year 9 and 10 (for example, CV guidance, how to have successful interviews, revision techniques and exam preparation). This was such a rewarding and enjoyable experience and I loved helping the young people and giving them advice and support for their future.
Tutoring Approach:
I am a professional, conscientious and highly driven linguist and tutor with the ability to communicate confidently and effectively. I am a friendly, approachable and patient individual with a responsible and committed work ethic and a true, dedicated passion for languages. I am highly experienced and skilled in teaching, tuition and working with children, from age 4 through to age 18, as well as adults. I am able to provide outstanding tuition and support to all levels and abilities with an excellent understanding of children and their learning. I can plan, prepare and deliver lessons of consistently high standards that can be adapted to meet the needs of the individual. I am talented and greatly experienced in modern foreign languages, with highly advanced linguistic skills, particularly in French, Spanish and English, including vast teaching experience in both. I feel that I can make a real difference in language tuition by sharing this knowledge and experience with my students. I am very happy to move at a pace that my tutee is comfortable with during tuition sessions. I am always very understanding when I tutor and I like to ensure that my tutee feels confident and happy about what they have learnt and understood by the end of the session.

The tone and the content of each lesson is imaginative, carefully thought out and tailored for us - our daughter is only 4 but is really enjoying herself whilst learning another language. I couldn't be happier with how we're progressing and cannot recommend Katie highly enough.
Already Katie has helped Clemmie hugely with both French and Spanish GCSE.
Clemmie confidence is soaring in both subjects, but especially Spanish, which was only recently started at school.
Katie is reliable and professional, but is also absolutely gorgeous to have around. It is clear to see how much Clem loves her lessons with Katie, and how much they are helping her. If I could give her 10 out of 5, I would!
Thank you ever so much again!
Katie
From me, she is quite honestly the best tutor ever and it's been a pleasure and an amazing experience to learn French with such an extraordinary teacher and guide.
