I am an experienced and fully trained teacher of Psychology with 10 years teaching experience. I always aim to produce and deliver engaging and suitably challenging lessons for the students whom I teach. I enjoy using a range of teaching strategies and methods to suit the needs of each individual student. In addition to this, I go to great lengths to keep up to date with current teaching methods and psychological research, by subscribing to psychology journals and engaging in forums for psychology teachers.
I am a fully qualified teacher of Psychology of 10 years holding QTS status. In addition to this I have a 1st class honours degree in Psychology. I currently teach in an Ofsted rated `Outstanding` secondary school in Nottinghamshire. Due to my area of expertise, I specialise only in A Level Psychology teaching and tutoring.
In 2017, the cohort of students that I had taught achieved a 100% A*-C pass rate, with 36% of students achieving either an A* or A in the A Level Psychology exam. Yearly my results are well above national averages and those of similar centres.
I am also an experienced examiner for the exam board AQA and have examined on both the new linear A Level and on the legacy A Level paper. The experience of being an A Level examiner means that I am competent in giving advice on how to interpret and approach a range of different questions found within the examination papers. I am also able to provide guidance on how to achieve top grades in the A Level examinations and I can inform students on how to improve their writing style or exam technique.
Tutoring sessions will be supplemented with the use of detailed and well constructed student-friendly PowerPoint presentations, worksheets, model essays and answers. I have full access to the entire range of AQA’s past examination questions, which can be used within tutoring sessions to give tutees greater knowledge on the range of questions that can be asked of them in the exams and how to write model answers to such questions.
