I am a Physics (BSc), and Nuclear Physics (MSc) Graduate. I enjoy travelling immensely and have visited lots of different countries where I had the opportunity to meet local people and have different experiences. I have worked with children since becoming a Young Leader in Brownie Guides when I was 14, work which has continued to the present day and even expanded to include Scouts. I enjoy outdoor sports, playing piano, reading and having new experiences.
I am a qualified teacher of Science (KS3) and Physics (KS4), with experience at various schools in England. I have achieved successful results at GCSE with pupils from mixed backgrounds (including EAL), gaining the best results for a Separate Science for that year. I also have experience of pupils of lower age groups, special needs and lower reading levels. I have been tutoring since 2014, and have tutored various subjects at different levels.
I believe that pupils learn best from doing and that practice really does make perfect. I like to tailor my tutoring to individual needs, be it building confidence, a pupil's knowledge base, or simply improving exam technique. Going over past papers for GCSE and KS3 is an invaluable tool for learning and consolidating knowledge gained in the classroom; learning from mistakes, shoring up knowledge in weaker areas and using different methods to explain concepts where pupils may have difficulty. I make sure that I fit in with the exam schedule in order to give pupils the most confidence, and make sure that all subjects have been covered before practising exam technique.
