I am a PhD student at Imperial College available evenings and weekends to provide extra help for students studying Biology GCSE and A level. I also provide dissertation proofreading services for students studying biology undergraduate and master's degrees.
I achieved an A grade at Biology A level before going on to complete a degree in Biomedical Science at Warwick University. I graduated Warwick with the highest first class degree on my course and also overall in the School of Life Sciences. Following this, I completed a master's degree at Imperial College London in Biomedical Research, graduating with a Distinction and receiving the Dean's prize for the best performance on my course. I'm now based near Shepherd's Bush and in my third year of a PhD course in clinical research at the National Heart and Lung Institute.
I have been tutoring for several years now and I have a good track record at helping students achieve the grades they want, including those elusive top grades!
I also provide proofreading services for undergraduate and master's essays. I am a native English speaker with significant experience in scientific essay and dissertation writing (and I'm now tackling my PhD thesis!). I will check spelling and grammar and edit for style and flow. However, please note I do all proofreading work over email and do not provide advice about the content of essays.
My first experience of tutoring came while at university where I tutored younger students in aspects of quantitative biology. I have been tutoring A level biology (AS and A2) since the beginning of 2014 and GCSE biology since 2015. I therefore have experience explaining complicated topics and concepts in a way that is clear and easy to understand.
I am happy to tailor my tutoring approach to the needs of the student. I am patient and encouraging and would be able to help with homework, go over areas of difficulty, or plan lessons depending on what is needed. I often find that students want help with revision around exam time and so I tend to focus on past paper questions and exam techniques.
