I am a friendly and approachable individual. I take great satisfaction in teaching and in passing on skills to my students, watching as they improve in fluency in any subject, and gain in confidence. I have a Masters Degree in Writing from the Royal College of Art, London.
I am very practical and good at communicating - and this is my great strength as a tutor.
I have experience tutoring both teenagers and adults. I have experience tutoring students with autism, dyscalculia, dyslexia and dyspraxia. I started tutoring in secondary school, teaching Physics GCSE while I was doing my A Levels. I myself was tutored when studying GCSE and A Level, and so have experience from both vantages.
I am able to communicate concepts to a student in a way that is accessible and effective. I can relate to a student who requires the benefit of 1 on 1 communication, learning through doing and through discussion. I believe a relaxed environment in which to be able question concepts, potentially lacking in a big classroom, is crucial. I believe what is often lacking in a school's educational environment is a focus on a strong algebraic groundwork and knowledge of the theoretical basis for a subject. Armed with these fundamentals, I think students can become capable of approaching exams with a calm, collected, skilled mathematical approach.
