I have spent the majority of my career in Education, helping children and young people to achieve their goals and reach their potential. I have taught in Primary and Secondary schools', in a college environment, in tuition centres and in the tutee's own home.
In my teaching career so far I have taught a wide age range from age 4 to 70, and specialize in teaching troubled students and those lacking confidence, as well as supporting very bright pupils.
Since I began teaching in 1999, as part of my degree in Teaching and Learning, After achieving my degree I became a teaching assistant working with children with behavioural and learning difficulties in year 2, 3, 4 and 5 (Primary School). The following year I was placed in a secondary school working with a SENCO supporting 3 statemented children and dealing with an ADHD child.
After this, I decided to train to be a teacher while working as a College tutor and as a supply teacher. Since qualifying, I have taught a few schools but became a private tutor in 2008. I have taught in tutee's homes, tutoring centers and in my own home.
I have over 15 years extensive teaching experience, which has been evenly split between mainstream and alternative education in the West Midlands area. I have successfully taught English and Maths to a range of ages and abilities in Primary, Secondary and Further Education settings.
I have an excellent success rate in supporting my students to achieve qualifications and to progress towards their next goals, by focusing on their individual learning needs. I have successfully diagnosed and supported children with dyslexia, informing schools of my finding and pushing for assessments through the school to become statemented and receive the required support.
I aim to personalise tutoring sessions to match your particular syllabus, course or learning needs.
