I am a 45 year old French female citizen established in England permanently since 1998. I am a Chartered Linguist and a full member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London qualified as a French & English language teacher & translator with 20 years experience teaching in France and England at GCSE & A'Levels and teaching adults in further education and to French and British business people. I have also studied Spanish, Italian and Russian at University and having gained an RSA III in Business Studies from Wiltshire College in 2001 and spent 15 years working in management roles using my languages for several international companies in Import & Export, I set up my own language agency in North Wiltshire in May 2011. I also offer translations and interpreting services for private individuals and companies and am registered as a certified translator for the French Embassy in London and for the rest of the UK.
I have over 20 years experience teaching in France and England at GCSE & A'Levels and to adults in further education and business. I have been teaching students from various backgrounds and ages for different needs: from academic students preparing school and University exams to business and retired people on a one-to-one basis, small groups of 6 to 15 students and in state schools in classes of up to 41 pupils. I have been teaching in secondary state schools in England and France, in private international schools and to private students too. For the past 3 years, I have also been working for the British Army, teaching French to its officers and assessing them as well and acting as an exam invigilator and moderator for the British Army.
I usually conduct one-to-one classes or in pairs taking place either at the tutor's place or at the student's depending on distance and availability. I use a mixture of grammar, written exercises along with oral listening drills with audio tapes, CDs, use of online media such as carefully selected You Tube videos and other electronic educational resources. I carry out interactive activities such as games and role plays to make the lessons more dynamic and enjoyable. During a lesson, we also study cultural aspects of the target language, the customs of the countries where the language studied is spoken, the economy and other relevant social matters to help the trainee understand other cultures and feel more at ease when visiting foreign countries. I offer bespoke training syllabuses to match the student's personal requirements (exam preparations, holidays or professional needs).
