I'm a third year UCL medical student who really enjoys teaching. I would describe myself as friendly and approachable. My teaching style is dynamic and diverse, stemming from a genuine desire to ensure my tutees succeed in their academic goals. I believe one-to-one tuition is the perfect way for students to reach their full potential, and is an experience I find uniquely rewarding.
I am also happy to help with medical school interviews and provide guidance on entrance exams - I received 4 medical school offers and top octile in the UKCAT so I understand what is needed from applicants.
Here is my full education history:
Sep 2016 – Aug 2022 BMBCh (medicine) University College London
Sep 2009 – Jun 2016 Watford Grammar School for Girls
A levels: 1 A* - Biology
2 As – Mathematics, Chemistry
AS levels: 1 A – English Literature
GCSEs: 10 A*s, 1A – Mathematics, English Literature, English Language, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, French, German, Classical Civilisation, History, Statistics
UKCAT: 730 (top octile).
I have had experiencing tutoring both secondary and primary school pupils (in English, Science and Maths), receiving good feedback from parents. It was a genuinely rewarding experience and I was pleased to see my pupils progress – I thoroughly looked forward to these tutoring sessions each week and am keen to continue working as a private tutor.
I have plenty of experience with the education system, having helped develop the popular website 'Physics and Maths Tutor'. Therefore, I know which resources are best for students, allowing them to gain a competitive advantage in today's stressful environment. In addition, I have experience tutoring children from ages 7-11, as well as helping out with GCSE Maths revision classes at school.
I am always available to answer questions in between lessons and I want to help my pupils achieve top grades if they are studying for GCSEs or other examinations.
Academic success rests upon both the student and the teacher. An enthusiastic, dedicated tutor inspires tutees, encouraging them to work outside lesson time and to develop their own work ethic. This is my aim as a tutor – to not only help a student exceed academically, but also to nurture vital study skills which will stay with the student for life. I hope to instil this ethos in pupils of all ages, and am confident teaching younger pupils and older pupils alike.
This can be achieved through creating innovative and engaging lesson plans, and working closely with the tutee’s own learning style. I am confident pushing able pupils to reach their potential, as well as supporting those pupils who may be feeling underconfident. My aim is to help tutees succeed and feel proud of themselves - as well as achieving their predicted grades or personal goals.
