Maths and English Lessons in Lostwithiel

I completed a PGCE with a music specialism at Exeter University, I have had lots of experience of teaching especially teaching English as a foreign language and this gives me a solid understand of grammar, punctuation and spelling. A couple of years ago I completed a GCSE in Mathematics so I understand modern Math methods and teaching.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught English as a foreign language for over 20 years. I have taught in Tokyo, Spain, Portugal and Cornwall. I have taught in a one to one setting and have experience of whole class teaching. I also have lots of experience with primary age children as well as teenagers so I understand the need to make learning enjoyable, interesting and fun.

Tutoring Approach

We all have different approaches to learning so I adapt my teaching to meet the needs of all pupils. This includes careful differentiation in planning and implementing kinesthetic, visual and auditory approaches to suit all learning styles. I believe in a child centered approach to learning, this means they are mentally and physically involved in knowing what they need to know and do. Not forgetting making learning fun and engaging so this gives your child a lifelong passion for education.
