I am a 24 year old, female PhD student at UCL, currently working on tumour models. I moved to the UK in 2010 and have lived in London for 2 years now. I'm outgoing, friendly, focused and patient.
Whilst I do not have any professional teaching experience, I have always tutored in my spare time starting in high school. My main work has been with school children, helping them with school work. I also taught English to German-speakers whilst living abroad on a one-to-one basis to improve conversation and written work.
Currently, whilst working in the lab, I supervise BSc and MSc students during their projects. I therefore have extensive knowledge in the field and am able to teach at many levels.
My approach to teaching in general is through 'doing'. Therefore my approach to learning is through conversation and being in situations where one can learn with an element of fun. With younger students I would focus on activities and practical questions. With older students, I would check over and correct more extensive written work and homework assignments and work with their syllabus. I am happy to come up with ideas for activities and mock exams.
