A second year BSc Mathematics student studying at the University of Southampton.
A driven and patient person who tries to help students understand why maths is important as well as teaching how to do it.
I will be training to become a Maths teacher after I finish my degree so all forms of experience is appreciated.
Whilst studying for my A-Levels I set up maths study groups during the free periods where I would help some of the other students go through their homework and the previous lessons' notes. Similarly, I am currently helping teach first years as part of a buddy system at Southampton University.
At my previous employment at Waitrose I was responsible for teaching the new employees on my section as well as the temporary staff over Christmas.
My best teacher was one who would always take a very patient approach, going through a problem step by step with a student and emphasised the importance of each step. I aspire to teach in a similar way, making sure my students understand the importance of what it is they do past the exam paper.
I believe a greater understanding yields better motivation and a better work ethic for the student.
I recommend students finding specific chapters/problems in their work books before contacting me so I can best prepare for them.
