My name is Joseph Welsh. Please call me Joe. I am currently retired. I enjoy water colouring, swimming and computing but most of all I enjoy the challenge of helping young people to develop their learning skills. I have a M.A. degree from Edinburgh University and teaching qualifications from Moray House College of Education in the areas of Primary, Secondary and Special Needs Education.

Tutoring Experience

Before I retired I was head teacher of a Primary School for 21 years which allowed me to gain a great insight into all aspects of Primary Pupils' needs. It also provided the challenge of how best to provide for those needs. Prior to teaching in and gaining promotion in the Primary sector I was employed in the Junior Secondary and Special needs branches of education.

Tutoring Approach

As a tutor my first aim is to establish a pleasant working relationship with each pupil. From there the continuous assessment of the pupil's needs and progress provides a basis for enhancing the skills which need to be devoloped. In order to make satisfactory progress a variety of materials and methods will be used.
