I am currently in first year at the University of Strathclyde studying English and History as a part of a humanities degree. I have always had a passion for reading which allowed me to develop a strong grasp of the English language which is necessary for both of my subjects. I am also a confident and outgoing person which makes me ideal as a tutor. I also have two younger brothers meaning I am experienced in looking after and interacting with children.
At school I was part of a mentoring program in which we helped the youngest students in secondary school adapt. This included helping them with their homework when they found it challenging. I also helped as the assistant coach of the junior school basketball team which taught me how to keep younger children engaged in an orderly fashion.
My approach to tutoring would be to make it fun and engaging for the student as I believe that the best way to learn is being captivated by the subject in which you are studying! However this would be within a rigid and more formal structure so as to ensure that the student is still learning and developing their education.
